We desire to demonstrate to children of all ages that a relationship with Jesus Christ is not a remote option which can be added into one’s life at a later point in time, but rather an essential part of even a very young person’s life. Through Bible teaching and relationships with their teachers, children are taught that they have the opportunity to begin a spiritually abundant life at an early age, to live daily in grateful dependence upon the Lord God, and to learn what it means to glorify God and enjoy His presence forever.

Special Needs Ministry
This ministry exists to come alongside families of children who have special needs. We desire for these children and their families to be able to grow in their faith by hearing the Word of God and worshiping with the Body of Christ. Each child's needs are unique, so each situation is handled individually. We can provide a one-on-one buddy to help the child more easily get involved on Sunday mornings and help the parents feel comfortable in leaving their child while they attend a Sunday Life Group or worship. If you have a child with special needs and would like assistance on Sunday mornings, please contact Tina Jones to discuss how we can best assist your family (call 864.565.0921 or email email@example.com
). You may also fill out the Special Needs Care form and bring it with you.
What Is Buddy Break?
Buddy Break is a FREE Parents’ Day Out/respite program where kids with all types of special needs (VIP kids) have FUN while their parents get a BREAK. VIPs include kids with any physical, cognitive, medical, or hidden disability, chronic or life-threatening illness, or those who are medically fragile. This program is for VIP kids ages 2 to 16, as well as siblings K4 to fifth grade. At Buddy Break, VIP kids and their siblings make new friends, play games, do crafts, hear children’s stories, enjoy music, and more! Meanwhile, parents get a break from their ongoing care-giving responsibilities, usually for three hours on a Friday night or Saturday morning. First Presbyterian Church is an approved Buddy Break site. Check the Featured Events page for upcoming dates and registration details. We are also looking for volunteers for this ministry. Contact Tina Jones if you are interested (call 864.565.0921 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Foster and Adoption Ministry
James wrote, “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: take care of orphans and widows in their affliction, and keep oneself unstained from the world” (James 1:27). Whether you are trying to start a family, have already adopted, or feel called to follow through on this mandate in one way or another, we have a place for you. Some opportunities include:
- helping with childcare at the annual Foster Family Celebration each October,
- assisting widows with handyman-type chores,
- becoming a foster parent,
- offering respite to foster families for an evening or a weekend,
- offering rides to medical appointments,
- training to become a child advocate,
- tutoring a foster child,
- leading a support group for dads, and
- becoming a mentor to a foster child.
This list is not exhaustive. We're not all called to do the same thing, but we're all certainly capable of doing something.
For information, contact Tina Jones at email@example.com or 565.0921.
“Route 56” Fifth Grade Transition
GOING and… “Growing in the knowledge of God”
Fifth graders! Come join our fun events on Route 56, the road from 5th to 6th Grade. We will be going and growing in the knowledge of God as we fellowship, study, and go out in our community to share the love of Christ. Look for the special Route 56 logo in your mailbox, email, and GrapeVine newsletter so you won’t miss out on any of our exciting “road trips.”
Our local service projects/missions and time spent with God give our 5th graders an opportunity to be the hands and feet of Christ to our church family and our community. Seasonal parties include our annual ‘Regressive’ dinner in January and several other fellowship opportunities in the fall and spring. Summer events include the Junior High Youth in order to build relationships with our 6th-8th grade Youth before moving up to Junior High in late August. Join us on our trip along “Route 56”!
