The Fellowship of the Ring Book Club

The Fellowship of the Ring begins a classic tale that we know you will enjoy, and we look forward to getting to know you. J.R.R. Tolkien’s masterpiece The Lord of the Rings in many ways defines the genre of fantasy in the 20th century with his world-building, culture-making, and storytelling prowess. Whether you’re a frequent visitor to these stories and places or you’re reading for the first time, we know that you’ll be encouraged by the courage, beauty, and agape love in the telling of The Fellowship of the Ring.

• We will sometimes need to read and discuss more than one chapter at a time. Feel free to read ahead!
• While we do not have a discussion guide as such, a weekly email will provide you with some ideas and questions to consider ahead of each week’s meeting.
• The Fellowship of the Ring is the first book in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and there is potential for the book club to continue reading the subsequent books in that series. But in any case, be on guard: you will want to keep reading over the Christmas break!
